Patterns of errors

In my writing, I tend to use a lot of fragments. I usually put more than three fragments in each paragraph. Fragments make my paper sound unprofessional and they seem to lack effort.  Also, I seem to forget to put commas where they are supposed to be. I am not good with dealing with commas because the person who edits my paper always has comments about comma splices. Third, another common error that I seem to make often is run-ons. I will always put two sentences together without a period or comma. I have figured out my errors that I frequently make in my papers so from now one I have to double check my papers for run-ons, fragments, and commas. I think I should also focus on learning how to fix my errors because then my paper will be better. I have been making these errors ever since high school and I believe they have become a habit because I cannot seem to be able to correct them. Nonetheless, I will be more careful with all the frequently use errors that I make in my paper.

Extra Credit

Well I have met many people throughout my life and one thing that really gets my attention is when individuals try to deny their culture. During my spring break I was talking to this one girl who was Mexican but she denied her culture. She said that she was American and that her parents were also U.S citizens. However, it is hard for her to deny her culture because she looks really Mexican. I have met people like her but never asked why they deny their culture if that is something that represents who we are. I told her why she denies her culture. She try to convince me that she was not Mexican but as she saw that I was not falling for her lies she decided to tell me the truth. She said that she feels embarrass that her parents do not have papers and that being Mexican means being poor. I told her that she should be proud of whom she is and that she is not the only Mexican in the United States. There are many people who completely deny their culture because they feel that their culture is worthless. For example, I have met many Mexican Americans who deny their culture because they feel that the American culture is better. When people ask them if they are Mexican they would get offended. They say that they were born here, therefore they are American. They would also deny their parents immigration status. Sometimes I stop and think if they have any remorse because they are denying something really important. Not only are they denying themselves but their family too.

Assignment #3

What makes a good paper is complete sentences because that is what makes the paper sound well. A paper that has complete sentences deserves an A because it has a good structure. However, a C paper may have some sentences that are complete but some fragments. Also, Structure is a big part in a paper because a well done paper has to have a conclusion and introduction. A paper that only has an introduction but no conclusion is incomplete. Also, vocabulary is important because it can make your paper sound well or not. For example, if you use slang in your paper then it wont be good. However, if you use proper English then it will make you and your paper sound smart.

I have trouble writing complete sentences because I tend to have a lot of fragments in my sentences. Nonetheless, I try my best to write good sentences but sometimes a fragment my slip in my paper. I sometimes have trouble with my structure because I am not good with writing an introduction. I find it difficult to write an introduction because it is at the start of the paper.

Assignment #2

I think one of my topics maybe my research paper I had to write for my reading class. I was never good at writing papers, however, my research paper made it easy for me. My research paper gave me the opportunity to write what I wanted that is why I did so good on it. I was never good at writing papers because I could not relate to any of the topics or find them interesting. I found out that writing papers is not that hard because you just have to try your best. Also, you need to make the topic interesting or else your going to find your paper boring.

Second, I believe that my English class had a huge influence on how I speak because it made me expand my vocabulary. My English class showed me that I do not have to settle for less. Therefore, I should use big words in order to sound smart. Not only did they help me with my vocabulary but with my writing as well. My writing improve a lot just by using different words because it gave my paper a different format and style. My English class changed the way I talked and write.

Third, my trip to mexico made me realize that my Spanish was not as good as I thought. I found out that I did not speak good Spanish. I found out that my vocabulary in Spanish was weak because I talked like a 5th grader. I realize that my parents focused on teaching me English because they said it was the dominant language. Therefore, my Spanish was never highly considered. Now I want to expand my vocabulary in Spanish because I want to be fluent.
